The pun is intentional — and so is the fun. This area is for all the creative misfits who don’t fit neatly into a single category: screen printing, leatherworking, embroidery machine, stained glass, plastic welding, polymer clay, and whatever else you dream up. If it’s crafty, it’s welcome here.
- The most dangerous piece of equipment in Which Craft is the Clicker Press, a heavy piece of machinery that can crush and cut. The heat press can cause burns.
- A fire extinguisher can be found on the wall by the door facing the hallway, beside the printers.
- A First Aid kit can be found just outside the Which Craft? Room towards Electronics
- The clicker press, embroidery machine, and Kobe industrial sewing machine require training. Your best bet for scheduling training is probably to post in the Which Craft? Slack channel and ask for training on the tool(s) you want to learn.
- Tips and tricks
The computer in the Which Craft? area has software which can be used with the machines in Which Craft?, including:
- Janome Artistic Digitizer 2.0 (and 1.7) (for use with the Embroidery Machine), Janome AcuStitch Embroidery File Viewer
- Silhouette Studio (for use with the Silhouette Cameo 1)
- Inkscape (Free/Open Source Vector Image Editor, useful for designing for embroidery, plotting, and cutting. Also used to drive the Large Vinyl Plotter Cutter via the Plot extension)
- Media applications like Affinity, Davinci Resolve, and GIMP
- Other software which can be used in other areas, like with the 3D Printing (Fusion, FreeCAD, Meshmixer, Bambu Studio) and CNC Router (Fusion, VCarve Pro).
- Do we need to renew that software ever?
What are the rules for the area.
- What are you allowed to do in this area
- What are you 100% not allowed to do (we can't list everything that's not allowed but this is for specific things that have been banned ie. Epoxy Pours in Layup)
- And then a list of anything else that you want to highlight
¶ Maintenance
- What maintenance needs to be done every day (aside from picking up after yourself when you're done, that should be obvious but feel free to restate it here if people need a reminder)
- What maintenance needs to be done every week?
- What maintenance needs to be done every month?
- Is there any other maintenance that maybe only needs to happen periodically?
¶ Maintenance Manuals/Guides
- Are there any maintenance manuals or guides that exist. If so link to them here. They can be internal (stored on your teams google drive) or external (linked to the online manual)
Which Craft has a variety of consumables, to be used responsibly per the consumables policy.
- Generic arts, crafts, and paperwork supplies like markers, pens, pencils, craft paints and brushes, staplers, glues (white, Mod Podge, Contact Cement, hot melt), and tape can be found in the shelves.
- The printers consume ink, obviously.
- Other consumables are (to be) listed on the relevant tool pages.
- At this time your best bet for getting consumables restocked is to post in the Which Craft? Slack Channel
- Are there any regularly planned social events for your area?
- Are there any regular information nights (eg. Textiles Orientation Night)
